Tinto Pesquera Ribera del Duero Reserva 2012

Tinto Pesquera Ribera del Duero Reserva 2012 A classic and a legend among the wineries of Rivera del Duero, Spain. One of Alejandro Fernández’s most consumed wines, which is elegant, with great finesse and silkiness, good tannins and an intense and long finish. Wine & Spirits have it among the Top 100 wines of 2018.

Bodegas Ordonez Zerran Tinto Montsant 2015

When it was formed, D.O. Priorat ignored twelve villages that belonged to the historic Priorat region and Cataluña. These twelve towns now form D.O. Montsant, a region tied to Cataluña’s culture and history. All of the vineyards are controlled completely distinctly and individually, in order to take advantage of the characteristics that the different terrains contribute to the Garnacha and other grapes. Similarly, the wine is vinified in separate, distinct lots separated by the zones that the grapes are sourced from. This extracts the different qualities of each soil – the fruit forward nature of the fruit sourced from the sandy soils, the complexity and concentration of licorella, and the structure of the limestone soils. The best lots of each vinification are blended after in order to obtain this unique wine, which demonstrates the range of qualities of the terroir of Montsant.

“Bright and youthfully energetic on the palate, offering intense raspberry preserve, floral pastille and spicecake flavors that show seamless texture and a hint of smoky minerality. An impressively long, focused finish features rounded tannins.”Josh Raynolds, Vinous – 91 points

Teso La Monja Romanico 2016

Teso La Monja Romanico 2016: Tinta de Toro is a Spanish grape variety grown in the region of Toro. Its origins date back to Romans times around 2nd century B.C.

After the plague of phylloxera in the 19th century Tinta de Toro managed to survive this disease and many vines in the region are old vines over 200 years old.

As a curiosity, the wine made of Tinta de Toro was the drink chosen for Christopher Columbus’ trip to America. Fray Diego de Deza, original from Toro and private confessor of Elizabeth the Queen (Isabel la Catolica), knew about the properties of this wine (strong alcoholic content and a great capacity for lasting) and chose it for the trip of Columbus to the “Indies”.

In fact, due to the great amount of red wine, one of the ships was named“La Pinta”, because the cellars of the ship were full of this red wine.

Romanico by Teso La Monja is expressive, direct, and accessible, while still representing the varietal character of Tinta de Toro and the unique terroir of D.O. Toro. Well received by wine critics with 93 points by James Suckling as well as 90 points by Jeff Dunnuck and Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.

Bodegas Borsao Campo de Borja Syrah Zarihs 2015

Bodegas Borsao Campo de Borja Syrah Zarihs 2015: Very good wine, balanced, with black fruits and a clear structure. This wine is the reference point of Spanish Shiraz due to its high quality.

Campo de Borja is a DO wine zone in Aragon, northern Spain. This extremely arid area is situated just south of the Ebro River and north of La Huecha River, and borders the southern stretches of the Navarra wine region. It is centered on Borja, a small town laden with history, having been founded in 5 BC by the Celtiberians (tribes thought to be of mixed Iberian and Celtic stock).

Anima Negra Mallorca Quibia 2018

Anima Negra Mallorca Quibia 2018: Quibia gets its name from an aspirational worry-free state of mind. The wine is the brainchild of Miquelangel Cerda and his partner, Pere Obrador celebrating the versatility of the indigenous red grape, Callet, which is the common thread through all their wines. The Callet lends texture and tartness. The Premsal adds roundness while Giro Ros gives the backbone of acidity. Try this great wine from Mallorca!

Bodegas Alto Moncayo Veraton 2015

Bodegas Alto Moncayo Veraton 2015: A beautiful Garnacha with medium acidity, very bold, beautiful strong tannins, smooth, offering deep, mineral-accented dried strawberry and cherry liqueur flavors.
